Frequently Asked Questions

  • What types of products are sold in the Cann-A-Lounge?

We sell Bent Paddle ▲9 hemp canna beverages and edibles, many other hand-selected brands of canna beverages and edibles, plus quirky giftables galore! We do not hold the Minnesota license type to sell marijuana, bud or vape.

  • What makes your hemp-derived cannabis (canna) products unique?

TLDR Answer: Our canna products are the best because of our process, our partners, our commitment to quality, safety, and transparency, and, of course, all our cannabevs are made with Lake Superior water!

Our ▲9 hemp emulsion is specifically produced for us and is water-soluble, making it fast-acting. Most folks start feeling the calming, social, and giggly effects about 20 to 30 minutes after drinking a sparkly cannabev or snacking on a gummy.

100% MN sourced from farm to you! Our federally legal, full spectrum, hemp-derived ▲9 cannabis is Minnesota small farmer grown mostly by our best farmer friends at Finnegan's Farm near Two Harbors, MN, about a half hour up the shore from the brewery! Then, the hemp becomes our proprietary, water-soluble emulsion via a clean, mechanical extraction process via our primary partner, Superior Molecular, in White Bear Lake, MN. Plus, they produce our tasty gummies from the same hemp base!

We've done the homework and only produce our canna products in a safe, effective, and transparently tested process. Never synthetic, full-spectrum, ▲9 goodness from start to finish.

10% of the world's fresh surface water is found in Lake Superior. 100% of our beverages are made from that glorious and delicious water.

  • Can I rent the Cann-A-Lounge for a private event?

Yes we rent out the Cann-A-Lounge! Please fill out a contact us form to get connected with someone in the private rentals department.

  • Can I consume beverages, edibles, and/or smokables at the Cann-A-Lounge?

Yes, you can drink beverages and eat an edible that was purchased in the lounge. The Minnesota hemp license we hold and City of Duluth clean air act prohibits smoking of any kind on-site or near the entryway.

  • Can I bring my pets or children to the Cann-A-Lounge?

The Cann-A-Lounge is a 21+ space only and no pets are allowed inside, however, pets can hang out on our small sidewalk Cann-A-Patio!

  • I’m new to Canna Effects – Do you have any advice for newbies?

Wade into these new waters low and slow, and invite an experienced guide! New Paddlers have told us that half a gummy or half a can with around 2.5 mg is a popular entry point.  More experienced Paddlers drink multiple 5 or 10 mg beverages in 1 sitting.  Every body is different.

  • How will your canna products make me feel?

Every person is different, and everyone has a different tolerance when it comes to cannabinoids, depending on body type, make-up, level of use, etc. And even though we all react to canna in our way, we think you might feel any or all of the following when trying our products: happy, calm, giggly, social, centered, relaxed, light, philosophical, elevated, chill, "heightened," and more!

We have customers (whom we call Paddlers) who have told us they use our products for all sorts of reasons regarding how they make them feel at certain times of the day, to helping them sleep at night.

  • What is Hemp vs. Marijuana? THC vs. CBD? Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum? Sativa vs. Indica vs. Hybrid?

The cannabis plant produces more than 100 cannabinoids, including two main ones, CBD and THC, which cause drug-like reactions in your body. Hemp contains very little THC, usually less than 0.3%, but we can (obviously) get THC from it. Cannabis plants with THC concentrations greater than 0.3% are considered marijuana.

THC is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the primary psychoactive ingredient in the cannabis plant. It's what makes you feel "high" when you smoke or ingest (eat/drink) it. CBD is short for cannabidiol and is also made from the cannabis plant. CBD is related to THC, but it's not psychoactive, so it doesn't make you "high" like THC does.

Full spectrum refers to canna products that maintain a variety of cannabinoids such as THC, CBD, CBG, CBN, and more, versus products created with a single, isolated cannabinoid. Full-spectrum products are touted as superior because cannabinoids are more effective when working together, a concept known as the entourage effect.

Marijuana plants have commonly known effect designations like sativa (energetic effect) and indica (relaxing effect) plus hybrids of the two combined.  Our products are all derived from hemp so there is no such designation indicated.

  • Will you make a Canna Infused Beer?

Under State and Federal Laws we are not permitted to combine CBD/THC products with Alcohol products. Our THC+ and CBD+ Sparkling Water product lines are a great "break" from beer.

  • How do I know what’s in your products?

We take ingredient quality, compliance, and the safety of our products very seriously. You can view each product batch's full third-party lab testing results HERE.

  • Are your canna products gluten-free?

We produce our canna beverages at the brewery, a shared facility that processes malt beverages. We cannot fully claim it to be gluten-free, so use discretion based on your individual sensitivity to gluten.

  • Are your canna products legal?

They sure are for Paddlers 21+! Not only do we only use federally legal ▲9 hemp, but Minnesota also legalized our products in 2022 and then passed the complete recreational cannabis law for Minnesota in 2023.

Marijuana and hemp are two different varieties of the cannabis plant. In the U.S., federal regulations stipulate that cannabis plants containing greater than 0.3% delta-9 THC should be classified as marijuana, while plants containing less should be classified as hemp.

  • Where can I buy your canna products in person?

Products can be found at Minnesota bars and restaurants, grocery, liquor, co-op, and canna retailers. Find one close to you HERE.

We also have all product types and more in our Duluth taproom, Cann-A-Lounge + Market, and our online shop.

You must be 21+ to purchase any Canna products.

  • How do I follow everything you are up to in the canna space?

Thanks for caring, Paddler! You can sign up for our not-spammy Canna email list on our homepage. Then, go to social media to follow the @bentpaddlecanna accounts on both Facebook and Instagram!

  • What’s up with the broccoli emoji on your Canna social media platforms?

Facebook and Instagram do not allow businesses to promote THC products without the threat of "shadow banning" an account. As a result we have to cover up overt mentions of THC with the broccoli emoji. Now you're in the know 😉

  • I have a retail account – how do I sell your canna products?

Great! Don't hesitate to contact us, and we will get you in touch with the proper distributor of our canna products for your location!

  • I heard you co-manufacture canna beverages for other companies and brands – where can I find information about that?

Yes, we do! And we do it very well and with the best water in the world! Learn more and reach out to us HERE.
